Palestine Development Association

a non-profit organization

P.O. Box 101- Palestine, Illinois 62451

The Palestine Development Association was originally organized in 1998 as a committee of the Chamber of Commerce by then President Jim Goodwine to develop a plan to lead our community into the new millennium. Several needs were identified and various members of the community were asked to participate on committees to develop ideas to address those needs. In 2000 it was determined that for the group to be truly effective it should form a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit corporation with a board of directors to oversee the work of the following committees. Tax deductible donations to the various projects are always appreciated.

The Grant Writing Committee: responsible for researching and developing grants to procure funds for the purpose of achieving the goals of the PDA.

The Historical Development Committee: to work with other local groups to restore, preserve, and promote the historical aspects of the community.

The Park Development Committee: to work with the Park Board to develop the Leaverton Park recreation area through specific projects and general public awareness.

The Beautification Committee: responsible for developing plans to improve the appearance of the Community by enhancing sites and attractions.

The Publicity Committee: shall be responsible for creating and implementing public awareness programs for the purpose of promoting PDA projects and community pride.

The Business Development Committee: to promote and encourage new business ventures in the community while working to retain and support existing businesses.
